Located in North Kohala on the Big Island of Hawai'i

Riders should have suitable footwear such as paddock boots or lacers, English boots, cowboy boots, or rubber
riding boots and an ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet. E Komo Mai has several sizes of helmets available for
loan, so it may be possible for riders to borrow a helmet for a lesson. We also have a few pairs of boots available
for loan so if you let us know your size, we can check to see if we have a pair which you might borrow. We
recommend ‘layering’ clothing so that riders have sweatshirts or a light rain jacket available. Most riders bring a
water bottle which they can refill at the arena as necessary.

Riders should plan for 1-½ hours for a lesson which includes grooming and tacking up the horse, riding or other
work with the horse, and untacking the horse and putting the horse away.

Riders wishing to ride in semi-private or group lessons must arrange their own partners to comprise the semi-
private or group situation. We offer a youth group lesson on Thursday afternoons from 2:30pm to 4:30pm which
youth riders may be invited to join when their skills and/or interests are commensurate with the Thursday lesson
activities.
